Description | The envisaged contract is related to the Radiological Environmental Monitoring System (REMS) which serves as a part of a broader ITER system functioning to ensure that occupational exposures (ionizing radiation and beryllium) to workers and potential exposures to members of the public and environment are within regulatory limits and are maintained “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA) during the whole life of ITER, from construction through operation and decommissioning. Following the decision to adopt a “Staged Approach” for the ITER project, REMS procurement has been divided into 3 stages, with contract corresponding to Stage 1 (Design, manufacturing/procurement, installation and commissioning of all REMS components needed for operation before ITER First Plasma and at ITER First Plasma). Please refer to the Technical Specification (Annex B) for additional details.
