The European Commission and the Swiss government signed an agreement on 10 November in Bern, securing Switzerland’s participation in EU’s major research and innovation programmes, including full membership in F4E.

Starting 2026, Swiss researchers and industry will be able to contribute to ITER and F4E’s other projects on the same footing as those in EU Member States. Switzerland will also take part in F4E’s governance.

The partnership extends to other flagship EU-funded programmes like Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, the Euratom Research & Training (R&T) programme, Erasmus+ and EU4Health
